"Chesapeake

ScoutFleet 2002"

19 July - 4 August 2002

On Friday 19 July 2002 Sea Scout Ships of the Chesapeake Flotilla Sea Scout Wardroom will assembly at the Baltimore Inner Harbor to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Sea Scouting.  The following day they will begin their convoy north through the inland waterway to New York Harbor to participate in celebrations there of the 90th Anniversary of Sea Scouting in the United States.  ScoutFleet 2002 will commemorate this milestone with a parade of "Small Ships" and a public display of Sea Scouting and nautical skills.  More details can be found by clicking here for the Chesapeake ScoutFleet 2002 Operations Plan.

This ScoutFleet 2002 adventure will be truly a "once-in-a-Sea-Scout's lifetime opportunity" to participate in the biggest and best Sea Scout activity that there is.  To think of the experience in being on one of twenty to thirty Sea Scout vessels approaching New York harbor from our Wardroom, joined by many more than that number from other wardrooms and even other Regions is simply stunning.  Folks, it's not likely to ever get any better than this!  As was remarked at Catoctin, this is truly the "Golden Age of Sea Scouting", and it is invigorating just to feel a part of it.

This could be a "Long Cruise" our Sea Scouts will never forget.  Ships that are interested should get in touch with Mr. Brian Johnson, our Wardroom Operations Officer for this event, by email at: brian.johnson@neg.pge.com, or by telephone: (301) 718-6663 (work) or (410) 997-2023 (home).  This gives all of us plenty of time to raise the money for the trip and prepare our vessels for the journey.
